Paver Sealing

Concrete Paver Sealing in Fort Myers, FL

Protect concrete paver driveways, pool decks, and walkways with penetrating sealers formulated for Florida's UV exposure, humidity, and heavy rainfall.

Concrete pavers are porous by design — the mix that gives them their texture and anti-slip properties also makes them highly susceptible to staining, UV bleaching, and moisture absorption. In Southwest Florida, an unsealed concrete paver surface absorbs oil, rust from irrigation water, and algae-feeding organic matter almost immediately. After a few summers without sealing, concrete pavers fade from their original color, develop embedded staining that pressure washing alone cannot remove, and show efflorescence — the white chalky haze caused by salt migration to the surface during wet-dry cycles.

Professional concrete paver sealing prevents these problems by filling the pores that would otherwise absorb staining and moisture. A quality penetrating sealer does not change the appearance of the paver significantly — it makes the surface look clean and fresh while creating an invisible barrier against UV, oil, rust, and biological growth. Water beads on a properly sealed paver surface, and routine cleaning becomes far easier — what previously required pressure washing can often be rinsed clean.

Rain Exterior Home Service provides concrete paver sealing throughout Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, and surrounding Lee and Collier County communities. We use professional-grade penetrating and acrylic sealers matched to the specific porosity and use of your concrete pavers — pool-area, driveway, and walkway applications each have different requirements for slip resistance, UV protection, and cure time. Our process always includes deep cleaning and efflorescence treatment before any sealer is applied.

If your concrete pavers have been neglected for several seasons, they may also need a restoration cleaning to remove deeply embedded staining before sealing. We assess this during the initial inspection and provide an honest recommendation before pricing the job. Ask about our combined cleaning and sealing packages for driveways and pool decks.

How It Works

Our Process

01

Surface Inspection

We assess the concrete paver condition, check for efflorescence, existing sealer failure, oil absorption, and joint sand depth before selecting the right sealer formulation for your surface.

02

Deep Cleaning & Stain Treatment

Concrete pavers are pressure washed and any efflorescence, oil staining, or embedded organic growth is treated with targeted cleaning agents before the main wash. The surface must be chemically clean before sealing.

03

Dry & Joint Sand

Concrete pavers must dry fully before sealing — typically 24 to 48 hours. Joints are inspected and refilled with polymeric sand where needed. Damp pavers or empty joints produce visible sealer failures.

04

Penetrating Sealer Application

A penetrating concrete paver sealer is applied to fill pores and lock out staining, UV, and moisture. We use low-VOC professional formulations safe for pool areas and landscaping.

Common Questions

FAQ

Are concrete and brick paver sealers the same product?

Not always. Concrete pavers are more porous than clay brick pavers and absorb sealer differently. The best products for concrete pavers are typically penetrating acrylic or polyurethane-based sealers formulated specifically for the higher absorption rate of concrete. Using a sealer designed for clay brick on a concrete paver can result in uneven appearance and faster breakdown. We carry sealer products specific to concrete paver applications.

How long does concrete paver sealer last in Florida?

Quality penetrating sealers on concrete pavers last approximately 2 to 3 years in Southwest Florida. Surface-applied (film-forming) sealers may need attention every 18 to 24 months on high-traffic areas like driveways and pool decks, where UV, foot traffic, and water exposure wear the coating faster. The clearest sign of sealer breakdown is that the surface no longer beads water and begins absorbing staining — at that point, re-sealing should be scheduled promptly.

Can I seal concrete pavers around my pool area?

Yes. We use penetrating sealers and acrylic formulations that are safe for pool areas — they are non-toxic once cured and will not affect pool water chemistry. Pool-area sealers must also provide some slip resistance; we select products with appropriate anti-slip ratings for wet environments. We avoid high-gloss film-forming sealers for pool decks because they can become slippery when wet.

What causes the white haze (efflorescence) on concrete pavers?

Efflorescence is a white, chalky deposit formed when water-soluble salts migrate to the surface of concrete pavers and crystallize as the water evaporates. It is very common in Southwest Florida due to the wet-dry cycles of the rainy season. Efflorescence is not a structural problem but must be treated and neutralized before sealing — sealing over active efflorescence will trap the salts and cause clouding under the sealer coat. We treat efflorescence as part of our pre-sealing cleaning process.

Will sealing make concrete pavers slippery?

A high-gloss film-forming sealer can reduce traction when wet — this is why we do not recommend glossy sealers for pool decks and pool areas. Penetrating sealers do not significantly change surface texture and maintain traction when wet. For areas that receive water regularly, we recommend either a penetrating sealer with no gloss or a sealer with an anti-slip aggregate added. We discuss finish options with you before selecting a product.

What Homeowners Say

Reviews

★★★★★

"The concrete pavers around our pool were pitting and absorbing stains. They cleaned them properly — including treating the efflorescence — then sealed the whole area. It's holding up beautifully after two rainy seasons."

Carl D. · Naples

★★★★★

"I appreciate that they explained the difference between penetrating and film sealers before starting. They recommended the right option for our pool deck and the result is exactly what we wanted."
